Extension Designs
With offices in Worthing and Haslemere, we are happy to work on extension designs all over the south east of England, including Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, London and west Kent.
Our involvement will usually start when you send us your architect’s drawings/Planning drawings for your extension, but we can also visit your property beforehand to assess the feasibility of your project to make sure you don’t set off down the wrong path.
We believe that every extension project is unique, so we work closely with you and your architect to try to bring your vision to life.
Building Regulations Approval for Extensions
Our structural calculations and drawings are suitable for submission to Building Control, along with the architectural drawings, to obtain Building Regulations approval for your project. This is a really important step in the process, because if you build an extension without Building Regulations, you may be required to demolish it – a very costly mistake indeed!
What is the Extension Design Process?
If you already have architectural drawings for the extension, then simply email them to us and we will get back to you with a quote.
We might need to visit site to undertake our own measured survey to make sure the plans are accurate to within millimetres.
We send you our preliminary drawings for your extension for you and your architect to check.
Once we receive the go-ahead, we produce the drawings and calculation package suitable for submission to Building Control.
We can also provide a Contract Administration service throughout your extension work. This includes creating a schedule of works (a detailed list of work that a builder needs to do to complete the extension), get competitive tenders from local contractors on our approved list, and liaise with your chosen contractor during the works, including checking their invoices are accurate and the work is being carried out correctly. When the extension is built, we can provide a Certificate of Completion showing the works were all completed correctly.
Structural Designs for Extensions
The residents of this property asked us to design a single-storey addition to their large house. The foundations and connection details were particularly complex in this case as the main dwelling was suffering subsidence.
Working as a team with the architect and builder, we produced a superb extension to this historic building, to the delight of the owners – and we fixed the subsidence issues!
