Our client wanted to create an extension with a modern feel that was still in keeping with the traditional materials used in this c.1590 building, which is Grade II Listed and in a very sensitive Conservation Area in Arundel.

We produced the structural calculations, drawings and details for a new single-storey extension to the north-west of the existing building, connecting to it by a glazed link passageway. Within the new extension are a new kitchen and pantry area.

In addition to the timber rafters which spanned onto loadbearing cavity masonry walls, we also designed a steel sway frame to assist with the prevention of lateral movement of the new structure.

Our client was delighted with their extension and the additional space that it created.
